pod on… the meaning of flowers
I am often asked what my favourite flowers are but really couldn’t choose just one.
Even so, I do have a number of regular favourites (often depending on the seasons and the arrangements that I'm working on at the time), so here are just few of these and the meanings behind them.

Amaryllis
The dramatic, bold amaryllis echoes pride and splendid beauty.
Available: September to April.

Lilies
The perfect choice when simplicity is key, lilies symbolize purity and innocence and also have strong spiritual associations. The wide range of varieties and colours available has, thankfully, removed most of their associations as funereal flowers.
Available: all year round.

|
Hydrangea
The wonderfully showy, massed florets of the hydrangea have, surprisingly, a number of undesirable connotations – vanity, boastfulness, heartlessness and even frigidity, to name but a few.
Available: spring until autumn.

Gloriosa lillies
Exquisite gloriosa lillies symbolize the sublime union of lover and the beloved – the petals’ sensuous curves allude to ornamental rings and bangles being recklessly discarded in the heat of the moment.
Available: April to October.
